The Iron Warrior

The tips I give here are in regards to solo play although the tactics and weapon selection remain constant I believe.

For team play, character points to be distributed will not need to have so much emphasis on magic as the sorceror, if one is in your group, will be your spell caster. The warrior I feel need not concern himself so much with strength as dexterity for his level ups . A base of 30 for strength 17 for magic and 35 for dexterity should attained as soon as possible but that is at the discretion of the player as to how soon. By char level 8 I feel a warrior should have or work on getting 40 strength at least. And Dexterity is always good to add to. My personal preference is to attain up to around 27 magic after several level ups in hopes that a firewall book will become available.

In regards to tactics, the choice of weapon needs to be addressed for those unaware of the value. A blunt instrument such as club or mace should always be chosen for the crushing of skels and the undead. Most every monster will want to take their last step toward you from an angle. With some practice you can anticipate this and swing as he approaches the space in front of you. In some cases, the monster will knocked backward and you remain untouched. Remember: they can't kill ya if they can't reach you. ;-)
Even a staff can prove very useful here ex: a composite staff -damage 5-10- can make quick work of those skeletons. Also, with a dexterity level of 35 a hunter's bow can be used and should not be left behind if by chance one is dropped. You may have chance to get a good few shots in while still shadowed by a wall for protection. One of the best ways to stay alive I know is to stay from fighting more than two or more foes at a time. The traditional Ironman style of gathering monsters to doorways is still the most effective but not always the only choice or most time effective if playing a SIM. Often gaps between barrels, pillars and boxes can serve you well.

Your biggest challenge in church levels are obviously Butch and Leo. The old saying is true here "don't send a boy to do a man's job". Gain experience and armor before arousing these bosses. Most times the wiser choice is to finish a lower level and return for these foes when you're stronger.

By the Catacombs if not sooner Clan archers may appear. With smarter foes as these it will be more critical that you single them out. Doorways can work for this as they will chase you if they can't see you. However, if the room is large dodging arrows and cornering may be your only option.

I will append this section often for the next couple weeks so check back for some more updates.
